Story:

Like always, Gunner couldn’t stand still. The black stallion had to be put to some work while waiting, otherwise he’d get moody and start causing even more trouble. Kirsten stood at the door of the indoor arena where the show jumping event was being held, her focus going from watching the entries and checking on Taylar and Gunner. She knew the two were a good team, and with all of their experience together, were a good pair. But the stallion had a tendency to be a little wild, so because of her motherly instincts, she had to keep an eye on them.

“You’re a real pain sometimes, you know that?” Taylar murmured to the stallion as she turned him in a slow circle outside the arena. Gunner snorted and tossed his head down against his chest for a second, but then went back to his walk. “Yeah, that’s what I thought. You better behave or you’re not getting treats with dinner tonight,” she warned the stallion; and of course, his response was to stop suddenly before pivoting his hindquarters and changing directions of the circle. Taylar rolled her eyes and simply chuckled.

“Taylar, you’re up,” Kirsten called to her daughter. Taylar looked at her mother, then tapped her heels into the stallion’s side, pulling on the reins to turn him from him circle and led him to the ring. They ended up trotting into the ring due to Gunner’s requests, and right now Taylar wasn’t going to deny them. He was acting relatively well, so she’d be lenient right now.

They took a few warm up circles, then, after digging her heels into the stallions side, pushed him onto the course, taking the first jumps smoothly. But they had bigger obstacles to overcome. And Gunner was getting eager and pushy. Easy boy. Not yet. Taylar thought, keeping her calm though and leading the stallion on.
